Night of galleries and museums in Wetzlar Ernst-Leitz-Museum

  • On Friday, May 29, the “Night of Galleries and Museums” will once again take place in Wetzlar. Alongside numerous other museums in the city, the Ernst Leitz Museum will also be open until midnight. Admission is free from 6 p.m. Until midnight, visitors can try their hand at the interactive museum's photo stations. Photos taken can be downloaded via an app or printed in the museum shop and taken home as a souvenir.

The Ernst Leitz Museum is currently hosting the exhibition “Where the World Is Melting” by Ragnar Axelsson. Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson (born 1958) has been documenting the Arctic regions of Iceland, Greenland, Siberia, and the Faroe Islands for more than four decades. His breathtakingly beautiful black-and-white photographs show glaciers and ice formations, but above all the special everyday life of the people and animals living there under extreme conditions.

The Leica Gallery in Wetzlar will host the exhibition “City. Life. Portrait” by Fred Stein. Fred Stein (1909, Dresden - 1967, New York) is one of the pioneers of 35mm photography and an important representative of classic street photography and portraiture.

An “art shuttle” will run free of charge for visitors to the “Night of Galleries and Museums” through Wetzlar on May 29 from 7 p.m. to midnight, also stopping at Leitz Park. The timetable can be found in the program booklet.
