Taking Cinema-Style Portraits Leica Fotostudio
-
Light determines not only what is visible, but also the impact of a portrait: whether it develops depth, creates tension, or remains flat. This is precisely where this workshop comes in—with a clear focus on a visual language that visibly differs from classic studio photography and has its roots in cinema.
In the professional setting of the Leica Photo Studio, participants will experience an intensive workshop day on October 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., combining technical knowledge with creative practice. Together with photographer Christof Wolf, you’ll gain direct access to working with continuous film lighting and lighting techniques that specifically create atmosphere and character in the image. Over the course of the workshop, participants will develop specific lighting setups, work directly with models and studio equipment, and shoot independently under professional conditions. Christof Wolf will demonstrate the concepts using the Leica SL system and selected lenses, including Leitz Cine Hektor lenses. Participants will work with their own camera systems and will also have the opportunity to test the characteristics of various lenses.
Another key focus is on the interplay between color psychology, visual impact, and an organic portrait visual language. Rather than theoretical demonstrations, the workshop emphasizes hands-on work: Participants gain insights into professional on-set workflows, have the opportunity to take their own photos, and learn how to consistently incorporate a cinematic look into their own photographic practice.
The workshop is aimed at ambitious photography enthusiasts as well as semi-professional photographers who wish to specifically develop their portrait photography skills and work more consciously with light and visual atmosphere.
The workshop will take place on October 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Leica Photo Studio. The participation fee is 549 euros. A group lunch, as well as snacks and beverages, are included in the workshop.
Please note: A minimum of 6 participants is required for the workshop to take place. Once the minimum number of participants has been reached, attendees will receive a binding confirmation of participation and an invoice. The workshop fee must be paid by credit card or bank transfer within eight days of receiving the invoice.
